This charming denim floral printed rug measures 37X26.
It is made with a medium weight denim print fabric mixed with a cotton and polyester combo for the white accent. The varying shades of blue mixed with the white, bring this whimsical rug to life.
The warp that was used for the twining in this rug is 100% jute twine.
The technic for twining requires continued connections of new strips to the old strips of fabrics as the rug progresses.
This is usually done by making a slit in each of the ends and slipping one through the other to form a knot.
Most twined rugs have that knotted appearance which is fun and rustic and every bit as beautiful, but in this version of twined rug, I decided to minimize that knotted appearance and connected the two ends by hand stitching them together with a white cotton thread.
By doing so, both the front and back look the same with no knots giving a more refined finish, allowing the new owner to flip the rug to either side enjoying a classier country flare.
Once completed I finished the ends of the rug with the same fabrics being knotted and created this fun, matching fringe.
The 100% leather tag is attached on the end of the rug as evidence of your rug being created and hand twined and hand made right here on Wild Daisy Homestead.
Your new rug is a one of a kind. No other rug will ever be exactly as this rug is.
To clean this rug, I suggest spot cleaning or hand washing in a bathtub wringing out by rolling in a large towel or blanket.
Lay flat to dry on top of a towel and flip to dry second side.
Adding a stain spray to help your rug be more resistant to stains can be helpful.
Twining is an ancient technique that is often mistaken for and categorized with weaving, when in fact the two art forms are completely different yet used for similar purposes.
There have been evidences of twining found and estimated to be 25,000-32,000 years old in both Asian cultures as well as in Georgia of the good ole U.S.A.
Twining consists of taking two pliable strands of a fabric called the weft, and twisting it together in and out of the warp, opposite of each other giving it an almost braided type appearance.
Twining makes the strands of the fabric stronger and more durable.
Once the skill is mastered it is considered a fairly simple concept, however, it is far more time consuming than a basic weaving technique. If treated with care, your mew rug should last you for many years to come.
