Welcome to Wild Daisy Homestead
My name is Catherine and this is a quick version of my story.
I live here on the Wild Daisy along with 6 sheep, 4 cats, 2 dogs, 11 ducks, 4 guinea pigs and my daughter who is co-owner of our property. We moved here in April of 2020.
I have lived a very colorful life full of many opportunities to discover my life’ path by taking roads that led to dead ends causing me to start all over again from scratch.
Through the ups and downs my love of animals, plants, trees, herbs and good ole American dirt has grown stronger, eventually leading me to where I am today.
I currently live in Clarkston, Utah a very small yet charming rural town. Approximate population of 757 residence. The residence here are lovely people with good old-fashioned values and love for their country, state and town.
Moving here has led me down a path I never knew I needed to take. Now that I’m here, I can’t imagine my life any different.
The first year here, we planted fruit trees and berry bushes to create a small orchard with plans to one day plant more.
Approx. 4 months into our new life, I decided to purchase 3 ewe lambs and get started on the road to being a shepherdess, with dreams of being in the Valais black nose sheep breed up program. Weaving and processing the wool has become an obsession in my life.
As previously stated above, I am now up to 6 sheep and 4 of those are 50/50 Valais blacknose crosses. Yes, I am literally diving head first deeper into my dreams everyday..
I am a practicing herbalist and love everything about gardening, planting, herbalism, and now farming is included with this. I continue to take herbalist courses and educate myself every chance I get. The more I learn, the more I discover, there is so much more to learn.
Since moving here, we have had to remodel and redo our home 3 times due to floods, septic tank backups, and then Halloween day 2023, a house fire destroyed everything. We were able to save 2 large black totes, and a gutted skeleton of a house was all we had left.
Desperate to stay on our land with our beloved animals we decided to rent a camp trailer through the winter so we wouldn’t lose our precious little farm family members as well.
Living in a camper during winter with no knowledge of how to do so was quite the experience. However, we’re all still alive and here we are, 1 year later. House repairs have finally been completed and we are back in our home. God is great….
Planters and garden boxes have been replaced with new and filled with scrumptious fresh smelling dirt, edible perennials of all kinds nestled inside the warm soil taking root in their new homes. Planting herbs, vegetables, digging in the dirt, hauling compost and working with my sheep has been the best therapy on earth for anything that comes along. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention snuggling with my adorable kitties every evening as we curl up for a good night’s sleep along with pillows and blankets for all, is definitely a highlight in my life. One I could never live without.
I am back to infusing my arnica and comfrey salve with a new name and new labels, better representing my new life here on the Wild Daisy Homestead.
I’m excited to get my Blitz salve and Hush lip and body balm back out to everyone who is looking for that little bit of help in getting back up and back into the world feeling rejuvenated, refreshed, stronger and ready to go.
Most of the herbs used in my herbal products from the salve to herbal teas are grown here on our own land. Those herbs or supplements that aren’t, please know I search until finding the best possible outsources to purchase the healthiest, freshest and most potent herbs, vitamins and minerals at the best possible price to share with all of you. It’s important to me that whether you’re a die-hard nature person or someone just dipping their toes in the water for the first time, that you get the best experience I can possibly offer you for high quality herbs with high quality results and high-quality products. Your thoughts and experiences are what keep me motivated and encouraged to share my love of mother earth and knowledge I have been taught, through my products, with you and anyone looking for a better way while traveling down your own individual path of life.
The wool rugs I weave from the beautiful fleeces grown by my sheep through the winter, will be put up on the website as they become available. Every rug will be an original, one-of-a-kind and hand woven. Taking anywhere from 35 to150 hours of work or more depending on size. These woolen rugs will also be very limited in availability due to the fact I only have 6 sheep. But rest assured, the rug you choose if you should so decide, will be hand woven by a heart filled with love and appreciation for life, and from wool that is grown from sheep that are ethically raised, loved and treasured everyday of their life as they live here on Wild Daisy Homestead as part of our family.
I will also offer handwoven rugs made from other natural materials and fabrics periodically so you can watch for those super fun pieces as well.
Herbal teas will come and go with the seasons. I will add new products based on the comments, requests and interests of you, my clients, customers and new friends. Please follow along with me as I share all of my products, pictures and stories of my animals here on our little backyard hobby farm, with inserts here and there about life and the crazy twists and turns it can take for all of us.
Thank you for becoming part of my dream.
Catherine…
