Remembering Pumpkin: A Story of Resilience and Bright Orange Joy

The Beginning Pumpkin’s life began with a fight. We were contacted to come and pick him up when he was only a few hours old, a tiny spark of life in a heartbreaking situation—his sister had already succumbed to the cold, we brought her home and she is buried in our back yard.  From that very first day, we knew he was special. Hand-raising a kitten that young creates a bond that’s hard to put into words; he wasn't just a pet, he was a miracle we held in the palms of our hands. A Life of Adventure (and Survival) If cats have nine lives, Pumpkin used a few of his just staying by our side. He lived through the total rebuild of our home after the house fire, survived a car accident, and braved the long Utah winter with us  living in a camp trailer, all before 6 weeks of life. Through the chaos of construction and the cramped quarters of the trailer, his stunning orange coat was a constant bright spot. He didn't just endure those hardships; he made them better with his charismatic personality. In many ways, Pumpkin saved me. 

Many of you recognize Pumpkin from our YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook videos. He was a natural in front of the camera—fun, bold, and always the center of attention. Whether he was "helping" with the  sheep or just showing off his vibrant colors, he had a way of making everyone smile, laugh and just feel better inside and out. 

Our Charismatic Friend It has been a month since Pumpkin went missing, and the homestead feels quieter without his larger-than-life presence. We want to remember him not for his disappearance, but for the incredible, fun, and beautiful cat he was. He was a survivor, a star, and most importantly, a beloved member of our family.Turning

Heartache into Hope Losing Pumpkin has been a devastating experience for our family, but we are determined to turn this heartache into something positive. We want his story to be one of lasting impact. By sharing our journey—from his miraculous beginnings to this difficult goodbye—we hope to highlight the importance of pet safety on a working homestead. We are taking every step possible to ensure this doesn't happen again, transforming our grief into a commitment to better protect all the animals who call Wild Daisy Homestead home.
