Handmade Wool Rug

The wool rugs available for purchase are handwoven from wool that has been grown here on our homestead.

Each wool rug will have a stabilizer fabric, or other natural fibers woven in to help add strength and durability to the completed product. 

Natural wool rugs can shed and have a fuzzy appearance when first placed in your home, however the more it is used and walked on, the more the wool fibers will felt and mesh together.

Each rug created here is a one of a kind. No two will ever be the same.

Sizes and the number of hours it takes to handweave these rugs will also differ and be dependent on available wool and other fibers.

I will do my best to provide the highest quality pictures and descriptions I can to help you know the product you’re purchasing.

The very last step to each rug made here on Wild Daisy Homestead is the placing of a very small,100% leather label, secured by hand stitching, verifying your beautiful, rustic, handwoven rug is an “Original and Handmade”  

 

Cleaning your wool rugs can be challenging but doable if necessary.

Always wash by hand in a warm water bathtub using a wool safe liquid soap. Soak for 30- minutes, rinse and roll the rug up, as you begin to walk on it to wring it out.

After removing from bathtub, lay your rug on a large towel and roll it up tightly. This will begin to wring your rug out again. Repeat this step several times using a dry towel each time.

Now that your rug is no longer dripping water, lay it flat or place a towel over a fence line and hang your rug on top of the towel allowing it to dry for several hours, flip it over and repeat. Most wool rugs will take several days to dry.

Dry completely before placing back down on a carpeted surface.
