Sea Moss What is The Big Deal? Where Does It Come From?
Share
Sea Moss seems to be all the rage now in the health and fitness world. If you've seen the latest tiktoks and other social media platforms pushing it as the new super food, health hack, here's why.
During the pandemic people began searching for ways to become more healthy and build immunity in an effort to keep themselves safe. Sea Moss and its benefits hit the main stream public like a wrecking ball.
That happens when you see big names like Bella Hadid-Winnie Harlow and Hailey Bieber using it on the daily.
When well known celebrities do something they claim is making them look so vibrant, healthy and relevant, we as the public sit up and take notice.
I decided I would research it a bit and find out exactly what the big deal is.
In a nutshell, the first and most important thing I've discovered is.... Sea Moss and its place in our lives, is in no way new.
In fact, the masses, especially those living near the sea have been using this and other sea products for healthier options in their lives for hundreds of years.
Yes, you guessed it, just like everything else our ancestors lived around, knew about, and passed down through the generations, Sea Moss was on their extensive list of knowledge, it just wasn't on ours.
Now, those of us with deductive reasoning skills may ask ourselves.... Why? Why was this never taught and why are "they" telling us it can't be safe because the FDA has not approved it?
Well..... I suppose "they" whomever "they" may be, did not find it important enough to teach us in schools or make it available in libraries for us to find ourselves, so we could then share the knowledge with those we love on how to keep ourselves healthy? IDK
In fact, it has taken the creation and development of social media and it's numerous platforms to get it out to "us regular people" about almost all of the so called "life hacks" that our grandparents and their parents knew to be, wait for it... "The Regular Way To Live Life."
I wonder if all those who came before us would be scratching their heads in confusion as they stood back watching us rediscover the wheel, so to speak?
I mean.... Here we are.... we have put a man on the moon, can communicate with each other all over the world in a matter of a millisecond, we can fly planes, and our amazing leaders of the free world can even do whats called cloud seeding as they play "who is the Highest Power" and decide they know better than mother nature when it should and should not rain or snow...... Yet, Sea Moss and it's healthy benefits have proven to be more than mankind could handle. NONE of us regular people know that Sea Moss is currently and always has been a very healthy option for our health? Wait... What?
But never mind all that. The moment you've been waiting for is here.
SEA MOSS.... It originated in ...... the sea.
YES! I googled it and that is correct. Sea moss is actually found in the sea. I am shocked to the core, as I'm certain you are right now.
Apparently Sea Moss grows in the Atlantic ocean, tide pools along rocky coast lines, warmer waters such as the Caribbean, Asia, South America, and even in Africa.
Actually up on further investigation.... Sea Moss pretty much grows in every ocean on earth except the dead sea...
Sea Moss is basically the same everywhere but there may be slight nutritional differences depending what ocean it comes from. I was wondering if that might have to do with different locations and the kinds of differences and needs we have as people, because of our geographic differences? How crazy would that be....
Sea moss is full of potential healthy antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E. It contains prebiotics and minerals like folate, calcium and iodine.
When we start taking a sea moss supplement and our body begins to absorb the nutrients, different systems with in our bodies begin to use it to repair and replace that which is unbalanced or lacking.
Our thyroid gland uses iodine to assist in making and keeping our metabolisms at an optimal functioning status.
Our digestion track uses the fiber in sea moss to help regulate bowel movements and help keep us regular.
It is also known as an incredible natural source for repairing and maintaining our gut health.
Sea moss has been linked to boosting our immune systems and improving our over all health as well.
This supplement has been known to help us feel fuller for longer periods in between meals, which over a longer period of use, can be beneficial in weight loss.
I also discovered that when one takes sea moss supplements, a higher intake of water is suggested. Personally I feel none of us ever drink enough fresh water and we could all use that suggestion regardless of what we are, or are not taking. So all in all I can see why a higher intake of water is suggested, specifically with sea moss due to its high fiber content.
Sea moss has also been studied in the subject of bad cholesterol and blood pressure issues. Both of which can be improved up on, and lowered to acceptable levels according to some promising recent studies, and our millions of ancestors who have actually always known that.
I am discovering there are many positive and worthwhile benefits to take advantage of through this natural supplement now available to us in many different forms. In fact so much so that I myself am adding this supplement to my daily routine over the next month. I am taking note as to any changes I begin to notice for the better or the worse. I will keep you posted.
As I kept researching I also discovered that taking to much sea moss can become a big deal and is not advised. Because it contains iodine, hypothyroidism is a potential issue, so it's important you be informed and make the best choices for your own health, based on the best information available to you.
Always study out everything and don't forget to consult with the single most important person on the planet about your health..... You.
All this being said, I am not a Dr and can not diagnose or prescribe any kind of health issues or medications. Please always keep in close contact with your medical team to ensure you're safe to take any supplements or vitamins. Especially if you are pregnant or nursing.
